BIOGRAPHY

Joe Ganzelli is an in- demand drummer and percussionist in the Washington D.C area who performs with the United States Navy Band Cruisers, the premier popular music ensemble of the Navy. In addition, he holds the drum set chair for “The Worlds Finest” United States Navy Band Concert Band. He is a frequent performer with the multiple Wedding Wire and The Knot award winning Bachelor Boys Band and is an active freelancer in the D.C area. He has previously served as a drummer and percussionist with the USAF Band of the Golden West in the San Francisco Bay Area. He has travelled the world performing at legendary venues such as the Hollywood Bowl, The Kennedy Center, Jazz at Lincoln Center Doha, The Kimmel Center and Constitution Hall. Joe has also had the pleasure of entertaining our troops throughout various locations in the middle east.  

Prior to joining the military, Ganzelli was part of the IAAPA award-winning "found sound" percussion group "Cocoa Rhythm Factory” as well as the Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps and United Percussion. While living in the San Francisco Bay Area, Philadelphia and D.C., he has shared the stage with members of Prince, Randy Brecker, Oz Noy, the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra and members of both the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Philly Pops, among others.

Recent projects in 2024 include session work for Nashville based Turkish Rock artists K-if, film composer Andre Madatian and renowned progressive rock artist, Neal Morse.

A native of Downingtown, Pennsylvania, Ganzelli received a dual Bachelor of Music in Education and Percussion performance from West Chester University of Pennsylvania in 2015.  His primary teachers include Christopher Hanning, Ralph Sorrentino and Marc Jacoby. He has also had continued studies with Tommy Igoe, Ari Hoenig, David Garibaldi and Rich Redmond. Joe plays snare drums by Brooks Drum Company.
